A lot has changed since the screenshots on our site were taken. Pingr now works much more like a fully fledged Twitter client. We have added:

  • replying to tweets
  • scrolling down to retrieve more tweets
  • custom scrollbars
  • the ability to rebuild a conversation (this feature is buggy at the moment, for some reason the first tweet in a conversation is not listed – we’re working on this)
  • support for direct messages (we have currently disabled this feature as we have not yet come up with a way to build conversations)
  • timestamps and source information

In other words, we’re getting there. Quickly.

As for a beta, we’re not quite ready to release it yet. We’re able to go back in time and read older tweets, but we can’t get new ones through yet. We’re thinking of just using the Streaming API for all of this, as not only would it be slightly easier on our API rate limit, it would also be faster, and more convenient (meaning we’d be able to get notifications for them as well).

Another reason we’re not releasing the beta yet is because we haven’t added a way for you to sign out yet, nor can you delete tweets. These are really easy features to implement but we’re leaving them until last because we don’t want to clutter up our environment while we’ve still got big things to do to the application. However, once we’ve done all of this, we’ll be releasing it as soon as we can.
